The theme of this off-beat Kannada movie is about Widow Remarriage. The story, woven around the problems facing that subject is briefly like this: Santosh who is working in an advertising company. lives in a joint family where the whole atmosphere is full of happiness, joy and naughtiness. He sees a girl in a TV talk show. He likes her and goes in search of her. But, she will be in Guahati, in Assam, India. Then, in the back-drop of terrorism now prevalent in the region of Assam - a love story is set. The movie also tries to analyse the terrorism issues now burning the country. Many of the incidents are taken from real life situations occuring in the North-eastern part of India. Also, we have Assam flavour in the movie with their traditional bihu dance etc.
Popular Star Ramesh has taken the credit of providing the story for this film and Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar of AMERICA AMERICA fame has directed this film in a subtle manner with his own screenplay and dialogues. Music Director Ilayaraja has provided lilting tunes with an ensemble of old and new talents. Dr. Rajkumar’s rendering of the title song "Hoomale Hoomale" is really a feast for the ears and other songs are rendered by Charan Balasubramanyam (son of S.P.Balasubramanyam), Manjula Gururaj, Raju Ananthaswamy and Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar has also joined the band in lending his voice to the tunes. Lyrics by Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar are meaningful and in harmony with the orchestra. Photography by G.S.Bhaskar of Nagamandala fame has captivated the locations of Assam in a splendid manner.
Playwright and Director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar has once again come out triumphantly with a bold theme in HOOMALE.
The movie has many laughing, crying and thinking moments!
